About Me

India Stoughton headshotI’m a British-Indian freelance writer and journalist. I was based in Beirut for eight years from 2011 to 2019, reporting on Lebanon and the Middle East. In 2019, I spent six months reporting from Latin America and since 2021 I have been based in Istanbul. I have contributed to publications including The Economist, 1843 Magazine, CNN,  BBC Culture, The Sunday Times, Al Jazeera English, The National, ArtsProfessional, The Daily Star Lebanon, Monocle Magazine, Canvas Magazine and Revolver Magazine, among others. I am the winner of the 2016 Anna Lindh Mediterranean Journalist Award for intercultural reporting and was shortlisted for a British Freelance Writing Award for Art and Design writing in 2021.
